After a little controversy, a National Champion was decided for the 18 & Over 4.0 women today.
Caribbean had made the semis, but apparently due to having fewer than the 8 required players, they did not advance and Southern replaced them.
Southern was beaten by Missouri Valley 3-2, and Midwest beat New England in the other semi also 3-2. This set up a rematch from round-robin where Missouri Valley had won 3-2, and beating the same team twice in a few days was too tough a task and in the final Midwest reversed things with a 4-1 win.
Midwest was one of the top-4 most likely to make the semis (as was New England) so no surprise they were there and won it all. Missouri Valley was a surprise and one can debate how fair it was for them to have to pull an upset twice, but such is the nature of the new Nationals format.
Regardless, congratulations to the Midwest 4.0 women!
