I wrote about how the NTRP 4.0 level players were bumped up or down in the 2014 year-end NTRP ratings, now it is time for the 3.5s.
We can see that the men were bumped up and lot more than down, and had three sections with bump rtes over 18% and several more close behind.
The women weren't quite as extreme, but still had several sections with bump up rates over 15%.
Did this may 3.5s really improve that much? Or is the USTA trying to weaken the level by moving all the better 3.5s out?
cool info, yet again. At 2014 Nationals, Men's Flight 5 included Caribbean, Florida, PNW, SoCal, and Texas. Assuming more bump ups = stronger section, that means 4 of the top 5 sections all were in one flight! yabba dabba do! wow.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't think flight assignments at Nationals take into account strength of section at all so this can happen.
Deletejust read all your recent posts re YE ratings. Interesting to see so many bump ups in Southern section which seems like USTA is trying to level the playing field. If that's the case, then why on earth do they have a 65 & over rule that no player will be given an YE NTRP higher than his/her most recent YE rating? Same Rules should apply to all age levels - just because you are old, doesn't mean you can't play.
