Seattle and Portland dominated the 18 & Over two weeks ago, and Seattle won 7 of 10 last year in 40 & Over, lets see how things played out this weekend.
The 2.5 women had two Seattle (NWW) teams in the final and BTA won over Harbor Square.
The 2.5 men just had flight play with Valley from SWW beating out BTA from NWW on the head-to-head tie-breaker despite losing more sets.
The 3.0 women had Sunset AC (NOR) beat ETC (NWW) in the final.
The 3.0 men had Mercer Island (NWW) beat Irvington (NOR).
Mercer Island prevailed in the 3.5 women beating Stafford Hills (NOR).
The 3.5 men had two Portland teams in the final with Multnomah AC beating St. John's RC.
The 4.0 women from Stafford Hills (NOR) won the final over Hood River SC (EW).
The 4.0 men had Nordstrom TC (NWW) beating Vancouver TC (NOR).
The 4.5+ women had an independent team in NOR beating Salem T&SC (SOR).
And the 4.5+ men had two NOR teams with Vancouver TC beating West Hills RC.
Totaling things up by district:
- NOR (Portland) - 5
- NWW (Seattle) - 4
- SWW (Tacoma/Olympia) - 1
While it is close, Portland area teams won more than Seattle, and Southwest Washington found their way in as well. Combined with what happened in 18 & Over, it appears this year at least, Seattle's stranglehold on Sectionals may not be what it was the past few years.
Congratulations all!
